  1. The eighteenth century was an era of many changes in different areas such as science. The ideas that people had about universe in early periods changed with the invention of the microscope and telescope. Before, it was believed that the universe was a tiny setting where the sun rotated about the planet earth. But, with the invention of these two devices, this idea changed radically. The theories of important personages such as Aristotle and Ptolemy were broken with the revolution in the science area.

  2. The eighteenth century was a time of many changes. One of these changes was the Act of Union that took place in 1707. This Act would forever alter the relationship between England, Wales, and Scotland. During this time, Britain became a world power. Something interesting is that all those changes transformed the daily life of the British people and as a result they adopted fresh ways of thinking about their relations to nature and to each other. New devices like the microscope and telescope came to change the old theories such as the one that said that “the sun moved about the earth.” Great philosophers appeared to change the revolution in the science field.

  4. When we talk about changes it is necessary to take look at both faces of the coin. In the eighteenth century there were many changes, as mentioned above, the flourishing of literature included many writers in that century: Samuel butler (1612 - 1680, John Dryden (1631 - 1700), Anne Finch, Countess of Winchilsea and many others who enriched the literature field. Besides, the eighteenth century held the civil wars between England, Scotland, and ireland. "The English Civil War extended from mid-1642 to May 1646." Along the unstopable growing of Britain, and its many changes, came some things that were not so good, like the Great Fire of 1666 (You might be thinking about the number of the beast) And also, the rising number of crimmes and violence, society seemed to be overwhelmed by criminals in this century.
Another issue of the time was the trade of African slaves, wich was finally ended by the Slavery Abolition Act held in 1833. It took a long time for these people to get their freedom, and yet, many never knew it.

  6. What a important element resurged after the restoration, the literature.
I think that with bad social/political movement or change, the mind and spirit of the people awake and a creativity wave surge, allowing differents ways of explession, that was the case of literature after the restoration at XVIII century

With the restotration resurged the theater in two diferents genres: comedy, drama.

  8. Changes... a lot of changes as you all mentioned before. England became known as "Great Britain" in 1707 because of all the important changes happening in that country. One of the most noticeable changes was the rising in the number of people who moved from the countryside to the town. They did it because of the opportunities and the new things they found there.
The discoveries in science gave writers a different environment to write about. They could start thinking about fiction stories and more unknown topics.

  9. In the eighteen century was a time of amazing expansion for England or for "Great Britain because Britain became a world power and an empire on which the sun never set. Hence literature had to adapt to circumstances for which there was no precedent. In which appeared some changed, but the lasting are: change was a shift in population from the country to the town. "A Day in Eighteenth-Century London" shows the variety of diversions available to city-dwellers. Also, sparked by a revolution in science.
In earlier periods, the universe had often seemed a small place, less than six thousand years old, where a single sun moved about the earth, and the center of the cosmos

  10. In the eighteenth century, the world finally left the dark period behind and new visions of the world appeared.
The political, cultural, and literary changes that happened in the restotarion time led to England to a great expansion over the economy in Europe. The union of the islands to establish what we know as Great Britain was a successful political decision giving as a result the English Revolution.

  12. The restoration significated the return of the monarchy into the political power (sovereing)

  13. The reestablishment of the monarchy on the accession of Charles II after the collapse of the Commonwealth and the Protectorate. The term is often used to refer to the entire period from 1660 to the fall of James II in 1688, and in English literature the Restoration period is commonly viewed as extending from 1660 to the death of John Dryden in 1700.

  14. Definitely, Eighteenth century was a period of great changes; however what we concerned about literature is the reestablishment of the monarchy, which became in the main event characterized of this time. Also, the term makes reference to the remarked style in most of the works, rejecting the restored court of Charles II. A singular feature that marked the restoration literature was genre and it didn’t have a specific chronological order, affecting considerably theatre, poetry, prose, etc.

  15. The Pilgrim's Progress is a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan. This allegory is one of the most important works of English literature. Christian is the main character of the allegory and of course, the hero of the pilgrimage. It is says that John Bunyan conceived the idea of writing this allegory while he was in jail. It is surprising; Bunyan went to jail because he refused to be silenced. As you might know, during The Restoration of the monarchy by Charles II in 1660, parliament barred Nonconformists from holding religious meetings outside of the established church. However, Bunyan like many other preachers disobeyed this mandate and they continued preaching. That is how Bunyan's persecution begins. Finally, he was sentenced to jail.

  17. with these new horizons people seen that even in their own world there were many things to discover yet as is the case of the microscope, wich gave them the oportunity to explore a micro world, but with this changes the exploration of the world was at hand, the expansion of countryes like spain lead to the power grow of themselves and one of the bigger mistakes of humanity the racism, the countryes that were conquered where slaved and their siticens became mere tools our actual world its kind of the same today... hope this can be fixed in someway...
