18th Century...

If the 18th C sparked so many changes in Britain... does anyone know what was happening in El Salvador during those days? A little shift from literature (or maybe not)

  1. In this period El salvador was preparing the cahange from the cacao to the añil, we all have studied this in middle school and we know that the añil made a big change in salvadoreans lifes, also the "half-breed" race was rising because indians were mixing with spain people this led to the so called social position in wich the more spain blood you had the bether position you secure in society, since this was a conquer era for us we suffered the opresion of the spanish conquerors.

  2. It is supposed that in the early 18th century, Salvadoreans began to talk about literature, but it was until the second half of the 19th century that Salvadorean literature began to take place.

  3. In the eighteenth century, El Salvador was ruled by Spanish people. They encouraged indigenous to enhance the manufacture of products such as indigo, since in our country was not brought forth a lot of products to export. As a result, indigo became one of the main products that were exported to Guatemala.

  4. In the 18th Century in El Salvador occurred one of the most trascendental moment in its history. The independent firm from its motherland Spain.
Literature was marked by this fact and many writers like Jose Simeon Cañas and Isidro Menendez took the work of writing the salvadorean legislation.
In poetry, during 18th century was very poor and only few writers worked on this genre of literature. Ones of the writers were Miguel Alvarez Castro, and Francisco Diaz.
Francisco Gavidia was a teenager at the end of the century and he wasn't very known until the earliest 1900.
The most important writer that appeared in the 18th C. is Ruben Dario(1867-1916); even though he wasn't salvadorean, his work is considered part of the salvadorean culture because he lived many years in El Salvador and actually his works are inspired in salvadorean people.

  10. It is interesting to see that England was not the only place having movement and progress. It was, mayhap, with the help of Napoleon, that finally, El Salvador, got its ""independence"" from Spain in the 18th century.

It is something far in time that grasps my eye: in the 1524, the pipil fought back Pedro de Alvarado. Even though they were defeated, It is good to know that our ancestors did not surrender so easily to the spaniards.

  11. First of all, the 18th century is important for El Salvador for its Independence in September 15th 1821. According to history after Napoleon took place as conqueror of Spain, the Salvadorian nation was on the way to look for independence.
Indigo was surely introduced in El Salvador in order to produce the natural color dyes.
The organization of the mayor halls in El Salvador was a bit different and actually it was like this:
Sonsonate mayor hall covering Sonsonate and Ahuachapan.
San Salvador mayor hall covering Santa Ana, Chalatenango, La Libertad, Cuscatlan, San Salvador, Cabañas, La Paz and San Vicente.
San Miguel mayor hall which covered San Miguel, Usulutan, Morazán and La Union.
It meant that If I was born in Santa Ana, My parents would travel to San Salvador in order to get my birth certificate by that time.

  12. In the 18th century In El Salvador there were many changed as the National Historic Romantic Stage, which it was a romantic exaltation, modernism, a movement of enthusiasm and freedom to beauty modernists react against realism. Lima was able to create Paradise (1966) a dense mythological world of complexity.
‘Neobarroca’. On the other hand, the Peruvian Mario Vargas Llosa discovered his readers various perspectives hidden in the seemingly closed world of a military academy in The City and the Dogs (1962), while Gabriel García Márquez, Nobel Laureate in 1982, gave internationally known for his novel One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967), in which, through a magical and timeless unit, managed to transcend the purely local in which the story line develops.

  13. In that century, El Salvador experienced some changes in the political area. First, all the desicions about extremely important aspects were taken by the king Charles III. And after the independence, people from the same country were responsible for the country's future.
There was also an improvement of the economic activities, but this fact didn't represent a positive change for salvadoreans because the Spanish people were in charge of all bussiness in the area. This was one of the reasons of the revolution. people fought for equality and justice for everyone.

  14. I found that Francisco Diaz wrote the first play to be performed at the Theater in San Salvador. The play was “The tragedy in Morazan” and it was written while he was in Quelepa, San Miguel . It seems that he was a poet soldier and he was killed on June the 10th 1845, in Honduras. He was undertaken, in some kind of collective grave, in Nuevo Ocotepeque, Honduras.
