English has survived all this time thank to the contribution of different ethnic group, I mean the influence of the new emvironment enriched English as a language
also, i think English as a language is like a core and has suffered "mutations" through the years thank to the British colonization. nowadays English is one of the most important languages around the world because it is used as a tool to communicate, for business, etc., so i think english will exist more years
Since english appeared in the middle of the fifth century had been suffering several changes and contributions of differents tribes, those contributions or changes can be perceive in his grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, etc and we can notice all those changes by comparing books written centuries ago (old english) with the ones written during the last years.
I can say that english had triumph because in our time is the most important and use language in differents aspects or fields of the societies around the world.
Some people have the wrong concept that there is a standar pronunciation of english, and sometimes they can rate it as good or bad. But, in fact it is a big mistake because english doesn´t have a standar pronunciation or rules about it (like in the case of french or Italian). English speakers pronounce the language according to their region, that´s why there is not a standar language because always will exist variations among the english community. So, we can say that this is present only in the written language.
English has changed a lot from it´s beginning, the structures became easier to manage, and the vocabulary got enriched by many cultures. Those big changes and historical foundation are part of the main casues of why English is so important nowadays, is likely to be culture itself.
The difference among the british and american english began in the modern english period when north americans declared the independence to Britain. And since they wanted to be recognized as a separate language, they began to develop their own way of speaking, adopting several words from other languages.
Like any other language in the world english has changed and it would keep changing, this is like a rule that we can´t break and it is because we always have contact with people from other cultures.
English-language has taken hundred of new words that belongs others languages and even cultures for surviving. In my opinion it's ok, because the world is changing constantly and it is very obvious that people are finding a new way to convey waht they want to say. It won't be strange that in the future coming people around the world will be speaking a complete new dialect.
English is nowadays spoken by 1.2 billion mostly because of economical purposes, nations in development are encouraging the learning of English to be part of the great economy, american economy.
English language is changing in every singular community, country or region and it will continue changing over the pass of years; but it does not mean that the "domain" that has reached over economical, political or cultural areas will change. English language will be the predominant language in international relationships around the globe.
For now, we can consider English as a general mean of comunication, since that is the predominant language. but, what would happen if spanish had been the language of America instead of English? It would be the same, would English be the same powerful tool of expression? Or would be spanish, or any other language?
I think is good to have just one language for international communication; this way, we will be able to go beyond our borders with the security that know English offers.
english has suffer several changes since fifht century, and by now I think that is still changing, but what it wont change is the name of the language, I think .
It's important to realize how English has changed over time and how people have influenced or contributed for this happen. Every language it's exposed to changes and we can see it in the information that we read, English was not an exception. In my humble opinion, I think that those changes that English suffered are the ones that have improved the language. Nowadays, English is the most spoken language over the world. Not the most important becuase all the languages are important to communicate, but is one of the most predominant language over the world. I'm pretty sure that English is going to persist over time because more and more people are trying to learn it. English is a real necessity in this globalized world.
I would like to see how would be the world if it had only one language, English as an example, we would have less barriers between countries and cultures and there would be more oportunities in many different fields like economy or politics.
I think language would be changing into a different one, if if were the same. People in different parts of the world need to express different things, so I think language would be now breaking down into several ones.
Evolution in a language is very important because that is a proof that people continue using it and the more words a language have more life that language will have.
well, I can say that just as in other languages English also has evolutioned over the years, regardless of changes to help us to communicate. another thing for people who speak English and us that we're learning it as a second language is important to know about these changes
I think English like other languages have gone evulutioneded due to the several people that promove each native language in other country where they have lived and also mix their own language with the language of the country where tey are living in that moment. In this way people create their own dialect and enrich all the lenguage. That is the case with the English.
West saxon, Kentish, Mercian and Northumbrian were the four dialects from Old English. Based on this, I have a question, Which of this four dialects influenced the most on Old English?, and which has influenced the most on Nowadays English?
